  • What is e-zwich?

e-zwich is the brand name for the common platform(National switch) that links the payment systems of all banks, savings and loans companies rural banks in Ghana.

  • Where will I get the e-zwich card?

To get the e-zwich smart card, visit any bank of your choice  and request for the smart card to be issued to you at no cost.

  • What will be required to get  an e-zwich card?

You will need a valid photo ID (Voters ID card, Drivers License, passport, National ID)

  • How long does it take to get an e-zwich card?

The process should take between 5 to 10 minutes.

  • How does the e-zwich smart card work?

The e-zwich smart card is a "load and spend" card.  Loading is a prerequisite for spending off the smart card. Loading in e-zwich terminology involves:

  • Deposit cash- This involves giving cash to a teller in any approved financial institution in exchange for electronic money on your e-zwich smart card.
  • Load Funds- This involves the electronic loading of funds(money) transferred to or paid as salary to your card from the ATM or POS.
  • Transfers- This type of transaction involves the following:

1.Transfer Card2card- This involves transferring funds /money from one e-zwich card to another e-zwich card at any point of sale terminal or the e-zwich ATM .

2. Non Card transfer- This involves transferring funds/money to an e-zwich card holder from someone without a card at any point of sale terminal or the e-zwich ATM .

 3.Bank 2 card  transfer- This involves the movement of funds from your traditional bank account linked to your card at any point of sale terminal or the e-zwich ATM .
4. Card 2Bank transfer- This type of transfer allows you  the card holder to transfer funds from the your card linked to your traditional bank account  to your bank account.


  • 1. What is a chargeback?
  • A chargeback is a refund of a disputed transaction.
  • 2. When does a chargeback occur?
  • A chargeback occurs when an ATM doesn’t dispense cash but a customer’s account is debited for that transaction.
  • 3. What should the customer do in the case of  a chargeback?
  • A customer should visit his/her branch to lodge a complaint.
  • 4. How long does it take for a customer to be credited after lodging a complaint?
  • The full life cycle of a chargeback is 10 calendar days. This means that the longest time it will take is 12 days for a customer’s account to be credited.
  • 5. Does a customer have to do anything after lodging a complaint with his/her bank?
  • No. All they have to do is wait. Their account should receive the credit in less than 2 weeks if the claim is valid.
